DENTAL AND ORAL CARE PROGRAM
India faces a wide variety of problems in different areas. One of them is that a great part of its population remains under the poverty threshold and has no access to health or educational facilities; due to this, children's overall development is hampered. Dental care is fundamental in order to be in good health and to feel well enough to perform our daily activities. The term 'dental health' involves all aspects of health and the functioning of our mouth, especially that of our teeth and gums. Within this context, we realize that most dental problems could be prevented by education, regular check-ups and proper hygiene habits. It is of utmost importance to raise adults' and children's awareness about the significance of having a healthy mouth. Access to dentists may be limited for some, and particularly for disadvantaged people, who are relevant targets of dental care education programs. Our Oral and Dental Care Program is being carried out in Pune, Maharashtra (India) on an ongoing basis so as to meet the needs of those who require one-time treatments, and of those who have to undergo longer orthodontic treatments. The beneficiaries are the children in our Projects, their families and the dwellers of the communities where we carry out our social work. OBJECTIVES General Objectives
